Brasserie Notre-Dame

Grand-Rue 32, 1530 Payerne, Switzerland

New life for the local joint. Located in the city center of Payerne, the Brasserie Notre-Dame (name after the famous abbey church) offers a bistronomy cuisine that was yet to be find in this town. New look, new team, new food.

The young chef Maxime Arnold offers a menu that varies with the seasons.
We recommend a dish cooked on the Josper (charcoal grill) which creates a little smoky taste that we love. The cote de boeuf for two people is super good accompanied by its grilled old school root vegetables also on the Josper. But if you are not meat person , you will find fish (ferra tartare with apple and gin) or fresh pasta (tortellini with mushrooms, ricotta and wild watercress).

Vitor Coelho, the boss is also an expert in cocktails (Swiss cocktail champion in 2021). We recommend “Izzo”, its signature cocktail made with Swiss gin and raspberry, perfect for starting the evening. The Negroni is also very good.
The wine list is exclusively Swiss. The selection of hard liquor is also mainly Swiss.

The place has been completely renovated with good taste. We would appreciate the place even more if the lights were dimmed a little more and if they would add some pretty black and white photos of the city, a little nod to the life the restaurant had before.

PLAN B: The menu of the day, starter and main course (Tuesday-Friday), is only 20.- If you are in a hurry for lunch, we advise you to take the menu of the day.
